Police investigate killing outside Malden convenience store

MALDEN, Mass. (AP) — Authorities are investigating a late-night shooting outside a convenience store in Malden that left one man dead.

According to the preliminary investigation, a 22-year-old Boston man was in front of the convenience store on Salem Street at about 9:40 p.m. Saturday when he had a “brief interaction” with a group of people, Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Malden police Chief Kevin Molis said in a statement.

One of them then opened fire, striking the victim, authorities said. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The victim’s name was not disclosed.

The death remains under investigation and there have been no arrests, authorities said.
